Halloween and Thanksgiving

We have been doing well. We have been up to see both our families this past month. My sister Kristi is getting married in December. Jon proposed in October, he surprised her when he came out. Ian has been growing. He now rolls all over the place. He also scoots himself forward. He really wants to crawl, but has not figured out how to get into crawling position yet. Rex is enjoying his internship. Basketball has now started and working even later nights, at least this week he has been. I am on the enrichment committee and we had our Super Saturday at the beginning of November, so that was a huge thing to prepare for and it went very well.

Ian loves to play with the straps on the diaper bag (but only when we are watching him). He sometimes gets all tangled up in them and can't roll away from the bag.


Ian can now sit up by himself. He gets upset when he falls over though, but that is the only way he knows to not sit up when he is done.

Ian loves hats, whether we are wearing them or he is playing with them.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, we went up to Rex's parents for a Thanksgiving meal. It was great. His aunt and uncle's family was there as well as a few friends of various members of the family and Patrick, who is Rex's cousin here at BYU.
We went up to my parents' house for Thanksgiving, which was great as well. My sisters were there, as well as Jon. Kristi and Jon are getting married in December!

Ian was Indiana Jones for Halloween. We went trick or treating at Helaman Halls. Ian had fun grabbing a piece of candy out of buckets that people offered. Rex was Zorro. I didn't really dress up. We had fun. We also had a ward truck or treat that we went to.

Ian loves to play with anything he can get his hands on and it of course goes straight to his mouth.


Here is Ian eating prunes, which he actually liked. He also really likes to eat bananas and sweet potatoes.

Ian's First Tooth and Other Updates

Ian is getting his first tooth. We don't have any pictures of it yet, it is still too small to even get in pictures if Ian would let us. Ian is also rolling all over the place. We recently got this "Bumbo" chair. Ian likes sitting in it for a little while at a time. He also sits in it when I feed him his cereal or other solid food (I still need to take pictures of him eating and his messy face).







We got a baby carrier and this was the first time Rex used it. I use it all the time, especially when I go grocery shopping.

















Ian has discovered that he can pull his socks off, so he does so a lot and then he will sometimes put them in his mouth, since everything goes in his mouth now.











This is actually one of the few times that he sat still and listened to a story. He likes to move around and "talk" when we are reading to him.











Rex and I were able to go to Homecoming this year. We went on the Heber Creeper. It was fun. Thanks to Kristi, who babysat Ian so we could go.









I'm tired now, so I will add more later. I will try to get on here once a week and update.

What we have been up to!

We went to my parents' house this last weekend. We went up for my dad's birthday. We celebrated his birthday Sunday afternoon with Scott and Cindy's family, since it was Scott's birthday as well. We were also able to see my grandparents. Saturday morning we went and watched Teri play tennis. She won all three of her matches! Roy High also got a trophy. There were four schools competing.

Rex has started a new work schedule this week. He is now going to work at 9 instead of 11. He is enjoying his internship. He is supervising soccer and planning flag football which will start at the end of September.

I am home with Ian. He is fun to be with and happy most of the time. He loves talking to people. He has now discovered gurgling and loves to do it. He has also started laughing, which is fun to hear.

We hope everyone is able to see this blog now!
We recently went to the Hogle Zoo last Saturday July 14th. It did not get too hot, but luckily there was plenty of shade. We enjoyed looking at the animals. Sadly, we didn't think of taking more pictures of little Indy with the animals, but next time we will. This is the only one we got. They had a golden eagle and a bald eagle at the entrance, so we took a pic. Every Saturday they bring out the eagles in the morning. We were able to see a white alligator. She is their new exhibit. She is not albino because her eyes are still black, she just has a rare skin disorder that makes her white. They also had these baby alligators nearby that looked so cute. We next went to the monkeys. The zoo was doing an ice block day where they would feed their animals ice blocks with their food in it. It was fun to watch them lick and suck and bite the ice. We continued on the the Lions, where they showed us how they train their cats. Just when they brought out the leopard, Ian started to fuss, so we went and fed him. He finished eating just in time for the bird show, where he fell asleep. Sadly, we forgot to take the camera in, so no pictures. It was a crazy fun show though!!
First, they brought in the two hawks from way up high. Then they had one hawk fly to the back (where we were sitting). We just watched it come toward us and it kept coming and coming!! It's wings actually hit becky and I on the head!! scary!!
After that were the doves. One girl in the audience was getting married, so they offered to bring doves to her wedding for free. They would release them at her wedding. They asked her if she would like some pictures, but she said she was afraid of birds. She still came down anyway, and the guy in charge put her right in front of a big pool of water. I didn't see it at first, but when they sent the doves out, they flew straight at her! She fell backwards screaming right into the pool!! Her camera was ruined along with all her clothes, but they took her backstage to clean her up. It was very odd. Later, she was coming back out as two birds were running across the stage, which freaked her out and she ran screaming back inside! Crazy!! For the finally of the show, they brought a golden eagle out, but it flew away to the Orangutan cage!! He said it was probably seeking shade, so they had to end the show early and let us out before it came back. sad!!

I forgot to mention that before the cats we went to the small animal and reptile building. Outside they have four green winged macaws. They are very loud and noisy, but little Indy loved them!! He would sit there and talk back to them when they screamed. It was so cute! Anyway, inside we saw that red ibis (beautiful bird), the iguana that is always on a branch just above the walkway, and a little duck. Not many more were out at the time. We also saw these cute little meerkats that would look and were curious about everyone walking by. We stuck Ian in front of one and they kind of stared at each other. It was cool.
Well, around noon, we all started getting tired and restless, so we headed on home. It was a joy and we hope to go back again soon!!

What a day!

Well, we are posting pictures to show you what Ian looks like. He is doing great and eating well. We love him and enjoy his presence. He has been smiling a lot recently and likes to lay around in the middle of the day just looking at things. He doesn't respond to his name yet, but I'm sure that will come soon.

Ian Indiana Jones

Born May 10 at 3:13 p.m. 6 pounds, 15 ounces. 19 inches. Mother and baby are doing well. We are excited to be parents and happy that things went so well. Thanks to all who have sent congratulations!!
