Rolling and Six Month Stats

Jaiden has started rolling all over the past two weeks. It is fun to watch him try to figure out how to get to things and get there (mostly toys).

He is now six months old. He had his 6 month check up yesterday. I took Ian since Rex worked. I was worried about taking both them by myself, but Ian was great and we didn’t have long waits between things at the doctor’s. Here are Jaiden’s 6 month stats:

26 in (30-40 percentile)

15 lbs 15 oz (10th percentile)

The doctor was a little concerned about his weight since he is going down in percentile, but I’m not worried, I just don’t have big kids, he is bigger than Ian was.

Jaiden did pretty well with his shots. He was easy to calm down afterwards and hasn’t been too fussy so far, though I do think he is teething again, getting his other bottom tooth. His top teeth don’t look like they are coming in yet.

And yes, Anna, I know when I post I do like three at a time. I don’t want to put them all in one post.

Pictures of the Boys From the Family Reunion

Rex’s cousin just posted pictures from the family reunion. She got a lot of pictures of Ian and Jaiden, but none of me or Rex. I had to adjust a lot of the pictures as they were yellow, but auto adjust is nice and easy.

I think this is where Ian was for most of the talent show.

One of Rex’s cute little cousins, Araina. She is older than Ian by about 8 or 9 months. Sadly we didn’t get a picture of Althea, who Ian played with most of the time.

Grandma and Grandpa Visit!

My parents came to visit last weekend. They got here Thursday night after Ian was already in bed. He was surprised and excited to see them when he woke up Friday morning. We went to the park. We drove to Steamboat and hiked to Fish Creek Falls.

Ian did really well on the hike. So did Jaiden.

Saturday was Hayden Daze. So we went down to the library to watch the parade (we were at the end of the parade, they turned at the corner we were on). The parade was pretty short, but Ian got lots of candy.

Then we came home and relaxed until Rex got home. We then headed down to the park where they had “inflatable fun.” Ian went straight into the bouncy thing and played there the whole time. There was an inflatable race course, where you race on motorized toilets. I didn’t do so well on those, I think my mom crashed into the side less times than me. Rex did great of course.

We went out to eat in Steamboat Saturday night. And then came home and played some games. My parents left Sunday morning. Thanks for coming, Mom and Dad. We had a great weekend with you guys.

First Tooth

While at the family reunion, during Grandpa’s presentation, Jaiden was sucking on my finger and I felt something in his mouth. I looked and saw that he is getting his first tooth! That could explain why he has been a little more fussy lately (though he still isn’t really fussy at all).

Family Reunion

We went out to North Carolina for the Collier family reunion. It was fun. I went to the last one five years ago, it was right after we were married. I had to relearn a lot of the cousins’ names since they had grown up. Rex has a few cousins that are around Ian’s age and one that is Jaiden’s age. Ian had a blast playing with lots of people, especially Araina (almost 4) and Althea (5). They rented a family lodge at a YMCA camp plus two smaller cabins. The lodge was pretty nice, it had AC and rooms for everyone. Our room had a bunk bed, the bottom was a double bed and top single. Ian slept on the top bunk (it did have rails on the side), which scared me, but he did great. It had a huge kitchen, dining room, and living room. We had lots of activities. We did some teamwork activities (Rex helped plan those along with his aunt Jolene). I guess I didn’t do all those activities, since I had some videos Rex took of an activity I didn’t even see. We had a family history hike, a short hike with six stops were someone would tell a story about an ancestor. Ian went swimming a few times. We had a service project (weeding and cleaning up the steam at the camp).

A pretty big group of us went on a Ropes Course. When they first mentioned a ropes course, I was thinking one like I did at girls’ camp in Michigan. We got to the course and it was nothing like I thought. It was pretty big and very high off the ground. We got into harnesses and everything.  I was so scared when we climbed up to the first level, but Rex made me go. I did the whole course and even made it down the zip line okay. We didn’t get any pictures at the Ropes Course, but I know others did, so hopefully they will post them on Facebook soon and then I can get them and post them.

Sunday we went to church and had a family devotional at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We came home on Monday. Boths boys did pretty well on the airplane. Ian got a little tired and whiney at one point.

Montrose

Last Monday, we packed up the car and headed down to Montrose, CO. Rex had training there on Tuesday and Wednesday. We all went along because we were flying out of Denver on Thursday. Montrose is bigger than we though it was. We stayed in a pretty nice hotel (free for us because the government paid for it). We swam Monday night. I took the boys to a park I found in town Tuesday morning, there were a lot of people there (a MOPS [mothers of preschoolers] group was there). The park was nice, big, and had lots of shade. We met Rex for lunch and went to the library. Wednesday, we checked out of the hotel in the morning and headed to the park again. This time there was an LDS playgroup that met there, so again lots of kids for Ian to play with. We met Rex for lunch. We then went to the Montrose Historic Museum, the library, and walked around downtown. Montrose is a pretty nice town. We then drove to Denver and checked in the hotel at 11 pm (we got stuck in traffic at 10:30 pm in Denver, crazy!). We had to stop several times on the way to Denver, so it took about an hour longer than expected.

Just for the record

Jaiden has been rolling from his stomach to back for awhile now. While on his back, he always rolls to his side, to be able to move around in a circle I guess and be able to grab his feet. Yesterday, he rolled onto his tummy twice. We will see if he keeps this up or if he will wait a week or two to do it again like he did when he first rolled from his tummy to back.

Camping

This weekend, we forgot our camera everywhere we went. Sunday, after church, we came home and packed up the car. We headed up to Steamboat Lake State Park to camp. We found a camp site and got set up. They have like 200+ camp sites around there. We forgot a lighter or matches, so we had to borrow one from the people in the campsite just over from us. There was plenty of wood around. I guess a lot of the trees got infected with bugs or something and had to be cut come, so lots of available, already cut wood. We roasted marshmallows, which Ian loved, though he wouldn’t get too close to the fire because it was hot, which is a good thing. It was late by then, so we put out the fire and went to bed. Ian went to sleep pretty quickly. He was very excited to sleep in the tent. Jaiden took some convincing to get to sleep. Ian slept great all night. Jaiden slept okay, no worse or better than usual.

After breakfast in the morning, Rex and Ian went down to the lake to fish while I cleaned up some and waited for Jaiden to wake up. As soon as Jaiden woke up, we headed down to the lake to watch Rex fish. Ian had fun playing in the water at the edge. He had to change his clothes a couple times. Rex didn’t catch anything, but we had fun. We then headed back up to our campsite, had lunch and took down the tent. We packed up and then drove to Fish Creek Falls (part of Routt National Forest). We walked up the overlook trail, pretty easy since it is paved and not too steep. We then went on the other trail to the bridge (the rest of the trail went up on the other side so you could hike right by the falls). The falls were very pretty. We will have to go another time and remember our camera so we can get pictures of it.

Hayden Speedway

So there is a speedway in our town. It is a dirt race track. We decided to go Saturday night and knew Ian would love it. We took the truck so we could sit in the back and watch. There is a place on the hill for you to park your vehicle and watch. Ian loves being in the back of the truck. Jaiden was asleep by the time we got there. Soon the cars came out and were driving around the track. Ian was so excited. Too bad we forgot our camera so we couldn’t get video of Ian or pictures of the cars. The cars were pretty cool looking. As they started racing, Jaiden woke up. At first he was very interested, but then the very loud cars came out and he got kind of scared.  At the break half way through, we realized a guy from our ward with his kids was two cars down from us. So they came over and talked and the kids played with and watched Ian. He loved having the attention of course. The kids sat by us the rest of the time. They even occasionally fought over who got to sit by or play with Ian. They also told me several stories about random things. Their mom did not come because there are too many bugs (which is true, at least we remembered the bug spray so we didn’t get bit too many times). It was fun. Next time, we will remember our camera and get a babysitter for Jaiden (I don’t think Ian would let us go without him).
