In July we drove out to Utah to visit our families. We left on a Thursday night after Rex got off work. We drove to Omaha and spent the night. We got to my parents’ house late Friday night. The kids did really well in the car (lots of movies, activities, and food). We were all excited to see Grandma and Grandpa (too excited to get pictures). My sister Teri had a baby girl the Tuesday before we came. They named her Elena. Kathryn especially loved seeing her. She got to hold Elena, but didn’t stay very long. She liked putting the “blanket” (burp cloth) on and off the baby.
We got to see my cousin Heidi, who just got home from her mission to Taiwan that Saturday and the rest of their family. We went to the Ogden Botanical Gardens with my parents as well as the Treehouse Museum, which the kids loved. We went to the Aquatic Center with my mom. Our kids love the pool and being in the water, especially Kathryn and Ian. Ian can kind of swim now and loves going under the water. Kathryn has no fear of the water. It was great to see my family.
Tuesday we went down to Provo to see campus and visit some cousins and friends. We met up with a couple of Rex’s cousins on campus and got to see their baby. We got to see the new place in the Wilk and the bench with Cosmo.
We got Ian a new BYU shirt since his from last year is now Jaiden’s and Jaiden’s is Kathryn’s. We stopped in the afternoon to see a friend of Rex’s from college and her three girls. We spent that evening at a friend’s house, the Stephensons. It was great to see them. They have 2 boys and a girl as well, though not quite the same ages (well Makayla and Kathryn are close). The two girls were cute to watch together. The boys had fun playing together as well.
We spent Wednesday morning at Rex’s parents’ house and Rex went to see Garrett and his dad run the 10k and half marathon in Salt Lake. We went down to my cousin Anna’s house that night. We also had a few friends from college meet their as well. Stacy is married to the cousin of Anna’s husband, it’s kind of funny how we are connected. We had dinner and watched a movie after the kids went to bed. Anna and Scott had just gotten a projector and surround sound system and were excited to show it off.
We had a hard time getting these four to sit for a picture (I stole your picture, Anna).
Thursday we went to the Hogle Zoo with Rex’s mom and Alex and her two boys. Luc and Jaiden had a good time together (as soon as they saw each other, they were holding hands and make sure they were together). Friday and Saturday were spent with Rex’s family. We had a family dinner Friday night, a mystery dinner that Alex, Rex and I put together. We got the idea from a Relief Society activity we had here a couple months ago. We left Sunday after church and drove to Craig, CO where we stayed the night. We stopped by the airport Monday morning to see a couple people Rex worked with there and then headed out. We made it to Omaha that night. Tuesday morning, we went to the Omaha Zoo. It is a big zoo and we didn’t see all of it.
I really liked the building the monkeys and stuff were in. The kids had fun. We left around 1 and made it home that night. Rex had Wednesday off so we got things unpacked and I went grocery shopping. He went back to work for two days and then left that Sunday for Georgia for 2 weeks. Rex had training down there.
