We started out the new year with a big bang! Okay not really, we didn’t do anything for New Years. I did take the kids to Jumpin’ Jane’s on New Years, they had a blast. We haven’t done a whole lot this month, just the usual stuff. Kathryn started walking. She still doesn’t walk all the time, but more and more each day.
This is a little overdue, but here it goes. As I said before, we stayed home for Christmas and just had it as our family. The boys slept in our room Christmas Eve (tradition from Rex’s family). When Kathryn woke up Christmas morning (around 7), we woke up the boys and went out and opened our presents. Our Christmas tree was set up on the main floor, and all the presents from Mom and Dad and Grandmas and Grandpas were under it. In the basement, by the fireplace were the stockings and gifts from Santa (and the new train table from Grandma and Grandpa C). The boys were very excited about everything.
We were able to Skype with both our families. We got to talk to Rex’s brother who is on his mission in Denmark. It was the first time he saw Kathryn, since the video didn’t work on Mother’s Day when we were able to talk to him via Skype.
We had a fun day playing with our new toys and relaxing, before Rex and I got sick the next two days.
I got Rex a drill and saw, his mom got him drill bits, which work in the new drill!
Jaiden turned three on the 8th. He was very excited for his birthday. He got a hot wheels wall track (both boys love it), some clothes, a coloring book, crayons, and paper. He had a birthday party the Saturday after his birthday, but because of some being sick and stuff, only Savannah (our babysitter) and her mom came. But Jaiden loved that they came. They also got him Thomas, Percy, and James train cars (the pull back and go kind).
Things about Jaiden at 3:
-He weighs 26.6 lbs and is 36 inches tall (as of today, 1/21/13)
-He is potty trained and (knock on wood) has gone a week or more without wetting his bed at night (either waking himself up when he needs to go or going all night)
-Loves to play with Kathryn (he is much better about doing it)
-Loves Curious George and Blue’s Clues
-Likes cutting paper
-Happy, easy going kid
-Likes fruit, will eat his vegetables now
-Likes to play games, his own way though
-Likes the “I Spy” books
-Doesn’t really smile for pictures (rare picture up there)
-Likes doing “school,” he is learning the ABCs and counting (he can count to ten, after that he just says numbers he knows)
-Likes to sing
-Loves nursery
-Loves to play outside in the summer, but not the winter, he loves the sandbox
-Loves dogs
-Loves playing with other kids and is so good at sharing with them (just not with Ian)
We are so glad to have Jaiden in our family and it has hard to believe he is already three.

A couple weeks before Christmas, I picked up a gingerbread train and train station kit from Sam’s Club. The boys were so excited about it (it’s a train!). So one evening we sat down to do it and discovered not all the candies were included, so we had to pick some up the next day and then we could do it.
Rex and Jaiden put together and decorated the train. Ian and I did the train station.
Jaiden actually smiled for a picture!
After Christmas, we took hammers to the train and station. The boys were excited about that too. Since Rex and I were both sick after Christmas, it wasn’t until Friday night that we got to do this.
