Halloween

Here we are at my parents' ward trunk or treat (the dinner part). Ian was a pumpkin and did not want to sit still. Rex was a ref that got in a fight and I was a vampire (without the teeth).

We went to a corn maze last weekend and this was the slide that Ian had fun going down.

Ian and I painted a pumpkin while Rex was at work one Saturday.

My parents have this Halloween decoration thing that talks and Ian loves it.

29 Weeks

I know this is a bad picture (my mom's camera was dying), but here I am at 29 weeks. This is for you, Kristi.

Tidbits and Randomness

I don't have much to post about. This week Ian has rediscovered that he can climb out of his crib and does it all the time. So naptime is now quiet time, during which he usually does fall asleep. We did have trouble keeping him in his room, but we got on of those plastic doorknob things today. He can't open the door and was upset by it. But I think it will be better. Last night it took almost an hour to get him to bed and stay in his room. We also got him a mattress in preparation for getting him a toddler bed (all we need is a frame now). We got the mattress for $13 from Kid to Kid. That was the first time I had really been there. Now we are looking for a frame and hopefully one will pop up on ksl.com in our area (there is a ton down in SLC/Provo areas).

I got a sewing machine for my birthday (thanks Mom and Dad). I have looking for and getting projects. I tried to make Ian a PJ shirt, it turned out alright, but the velcro in the neck bothers him so I have to fix it. I have also made two other things (I can't say what they are as they are going to be Christmas presents). Those turned out pretty well. My machine also can sew buttons on, so I have sewed one on one of Rex's Sunday shirts.

I have been busy working on Christmas presents, I finally finished the big one (that I started in January). I will post pictures of these after Christmas. I still need to figure out gifts for one of Rex's brothers, our parents, and Rex.

We haven't had much snow up here (like down in Salt Lake County and Colorado). It snowed Tuesday morning, but it didn't stick. It is certainly cold though.

Playing Music at the Tree House

Tree House Museum

We finally went to the Tree House Museum yesterday. It is a cool place, especially for kids. Ian found his favorite place as soon as we walked in. There is a little area with trains, the wooden train sets. The whole time he kept wanting to go to the trains.

Rex, the king.

This was the cowboy area. Here Ian is "riding" a bull. There were different clothes to dress up in in the different rooms/exhibits.

One of Ian's (Rex's too) favorite places was the music room.

There was a room with legos and other toys, like lincoln logs.

On the bottom floor, the different exhibits were little houses that had things from around the world. There were activities in each of them and clothes to dress up in.

This one is the Native American exhibit. Ian thought it was pretty cool.

This was the Argentina exhibit.

This was the Japan exhibit.

This was the England house, Ian liked the little cupcakes, they were babies.

Names

For those of you who don't know, we are continuing on with the alphabet for our kids (from Rex's {this is his middle name} family and they ended with H, hence Ian). We decided to do this before we had Ian and it was a mutual decision. We also told his siblings they could as well if they wanted (and their spouse). So for this baby, his name will begin with J, we are thinking about Jaden (debating also on how to spell it). I like the alphabet thing for several reasons, in no particular order: choices are narrowed down (I don't do well with tons of options), tradition, and it is fun.

Now, on to my ideas on middle names. Ian was given the middle name Indiana because Rex wanted it for his first name, but I vetoed that. I told him we could use it for his middle name, that way he could choose for himself what name to go by, like Rex did. For the rest of our children I want them to have a middle name that has some family meaning. Rex likes Jaden Alexander, but I don't know any Alexanders on either sides of our families. I want Earl (my dad and grandpa's middle name). So we will see what we decide, we still have a few months.

Passed!

I had my doctor's appointment yesterday morning. I had the glucose test and failed by one point. But I think they kinda did it wrong. I wasn't planning on it, so I didn't fast and they just gave me the drink and then did it an hour later.

So I went in this morning for the 3 hour test, annoying but not too bad. It was hard not eating all morning. The doctor's office called this afternoon and said I passed. Yeah! I did get to read a lot since there wasn't that much else to do.

Good day

We were supposed to go to my parents' house to do laundry today, but didn't because my mom was sick (she is feeling better now, btw). So I had to decide what to do with this now empty day and figure out what we were going to do tomorrow. So Ian and I went grocery shopping this morning. I was excited to get some good deals on things, like $1 a box for General Mills cereal (true, there was only like 4 different kinds on sale, one which we don't like) and .60 for fruit snacks and .99 for cream cheese. I was able to shop the store sales and use coupons, thus the really cheap cereal and fruit snacks. It was Maceys that was having this great sale. We also went to Costco and got some things we needed (i.e. diapers and wipes, etc) and spent a lot. I was planning on feeding Ian lunch and then putting him down for a nap when we got home, but those weren't Ian's plans. He fell asleep on the way home, so nap first and lunch second.

He woke up happy, saying something about work, maybe Teri and work. Rex and I never quite figured out what he was talking about. He excitedly helped us change the sheets on the bed, usually he is a pain because he wants to play in the bed, but he was good today. I fed Ian and put fondant on my cake for class tomorrow (last session of the final cake class, finally!). We went and played outside, all over. Ian loves play in the leaves, running through them, kicking them, laying down in them, anything. I also talked to my mom for awhile. I realized today that I don't know what I would do if we lived far away from family, I like being close to go see them and stuff.

We came back and made brownies. Ian loves to help me in the kitchen. He dumped in the oil and the water and watched me mix it up. If I am making something in the kitchen, he has to come in and push the step stool over to the counter to watch and try and help. Depending on what I am doing he gets to help. When I make bread, he gets to turn the Kitchen Aid on and dump stuff in. He also helps "knead" it, though he just ends up eating his little part of dough.

We had dinner, ravioli that I got from Costco today. Ian ate a lot, some nights he eats well and other nights doesn't. He did get very messy though (spaghetti sauce), so he took a bath. We picked up his toys and went outside again. It was a beautiful day today and was pretty warm, but still had the cool feel (I love this weather, it is perfect).

Overall it was a pretty good day except that Rex works late tonight, but I am getting used to that again, though I do need more Christmas projects since I finished all the ones that I have been working on.

Birthday

My birthday was a week and ago and have been meaning to post about it. The day was pretty usual. My parents came and took me and Ian to dinner (Rex was at work). We went to Texas Roadhouse and met my aunt and grandma there. I really like Texas Roadhouse, good price and good food (Rex and I usually split one plate with enough for Ian). We then came back and had birthday cake (my mom made the cake). Ian was very excited to blow out the candles, in fact while the candles were being lit, he blew them out. So Ian helped me blow out the candles. My parents got me a sewing machine. It seems like a nice one. I finally threaded it and tried it out today, seems to work great. Now I just need projects that use a sewing machine (and fabric).

Later, Rex's parents came up and Rex got off work a little early. They also brought cake/brownie stuff. They also gave me The Joy of Cooking. It was a fun day.

Rex and I were able to go out for my birthday on Friday. We ate at Arbys (cheap) and went and saw Up. That was at the cheap theater that we just found out was here in Ogden. We really liked the movie.

That's about it.

Jones Family Reunion

This weekend we went down to Rex's parents' house. We had a small family reunion Sunday afternoon (Rex's dad's brothers and sisters and their families). It was fun to see Rex's cousins and hopefully remember more of their names. Ian had a blast playing with the other kids, especially on the trampoline. We also played some games.

Playing Library

Last night, Ian and I were playing before bed. Well, actually I was reading a book. Ian started taking the books and holding one out and said "Beep." And then took another one and did the same thing. It took several times of him doing this for me to notice and realize what he was doing. I said, "Are you playing library, checking the books out?" He said yes and continued, with the same books over and over, saying "Beep" and "Playing library." He actually says li-li.

Family Pictures

Felicia took our family pictures in September and we got them from her this weekend. I thought they turned out great. Thanks, Felicia!

Naps

Today Ian discovered that he can climb out of his crib. He discovered this after I put him down for his nap. I was sitting on the couch in the living room and all the sudden we here a door open and out walks Ian, happy as can be. So I took him back into his room and put him back in his crib. I went and ran some errands. Rex said Ian got out once more, but then he went to sleep (for an hour). I think we will be getting him a bed soon.

Ian has been taking good naps (1 1/2 hours- 2+ hours) until the last week or so. Now his naps are like an hour long. It is kinda aggravating. Maybe I need to push his naptime back a bit and see if that helps.
