Well, an interesting and fun week for all of us. We received word a good friend of ours from BYU is graduating from his singles ward. That is always a fun thing to celebrate. Becky spent last week being a little sick with a cold (that’s what you get working at an elementary school). Ian and I survived until this week when we both got stuffy noses. Ian’s runs constantly, and mine just gave me a headache for a day.
So we finally saw Prince Caspian. I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed with the story line. I am a fan of the series and own the hardback copy of the seven volumes in one. I felt that the director tried too hard to make a movie people would see rather than stay true to the books. The beginning was done well, but it skipped some of the growing up of the Prince. Doctor Cornelius, Caspian’s tutor, was never developed well like he was in the books. Susan’s Horn was blown at the wrong time, and Aslan and Lucy never went to get some more armies.
I did however enjoy their portrayal of Reepicheep and feel they got that one right. Also the scene with the White Witch was done very well and right. Altogether not a horrible movie, but I was disappointed in how the director changed things to fit what he wanted rather than stick to the book.
Monsters vs. Aliens is a great family flick. Becky, Ian, and I enjoyed it. I have become a huge fan of CG movies. Bob was probably my favorite character, as he did not have a brain. Turns out, you don’t need one! I highly recommend it.

For those of you who have no idea what this is, go to your local library, and check out the children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are. It’s all about Max and his imagination. I loved that book growing up, and now own a copy and read it to my son. As one critic said, we don’t know if it will be like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(great movie) or like The Cat in the Hat (good book, bad movie). I hope it does well, although during the preview before Monsters v Aliens, I heard one adult say “that looks stupid”. I can only assume he never read or heard of the book.
Finally, job hunting is slow, but I have had interviews for local part time jobs, that can be long term, and even full time, depending on what they have. I expect to hear this week from two of them, and next week from another. I am still applying to recreation jobs, and the Recreation Director here in Ogden is trying to help me out by talking to some of her colleagues. I still do part time with baseball and basketball right now, so I’m still having fun. Hope all is well with you all.
