Kathryn had her first birthday on March 6! The boys were so excited for her birthday. After Ian got home from school, we celebrated. Kathryn got to open her presents. She had fun ripping the wrapping paper and handing it to me so she could rip more. Rex posted a cute video from her birthday on Facebook. She was excited about her toys, the clothes weren’t too exciting though. We got her a dress, some hair clips, and a Barbie Princess car/push thing. It will be great for outside when it is warmer. Grandma and Grandpa C got her an outfit and some little plastic books, which she loves since she can put them in her mouth and they don’t get taken away. Grandma and Grandpa J got her an outfit and a star shaped stacking thing (I don’t know what they are called). I made cupcakes. She had fun smashing it and making a mess, but didn’t eat much of it. If it had been chocolate, she may have eaten more.
Some things about Kathryn at one year:
-She can walk (she started walking at 10 1/2 months)
-She has 8 teeth
-She loves seeing her brothers and playing with them
-She loves climbing the stairs (we have to barricade the stairs when we want her to stay in the basement)
-Her favorite word is “Wow.” Other than that she doesn’t say many other actual words, she babbles all the time though
-She loves books, especially walking around with one in her mouth
-If the bathroom door is open, she is sure to be in there
-She is a happy girl
-She loves opening drawers and cupboards (at least she is not at the stage where she takes everything out of the cupboard, she just climbs in with everything still in there)
-She will put anything she finds in her mouth
-Her brothers’ toys are much more interesting than hers
-She loves her little teddy, which was Rex’s when he was little
-She weighs 17 lbs 2 oz (11th percentile!) and is 28 inches tall (11th percentile as well!). I was surprised she was on the charts since Ian was not when he was one. She was really good with her shots, only crying when the nurse poked her and then stopped as soon as she was done.
-She is a good traveler in the car (she was good for the 4 1/2 hour drive up to Minneapolis a last weekend)
We love having her in our family. The boys, especially Ian, adore her. Though I guess she is now old enough that Jaiden can now push her down and hit her sometimes. Most of the time the boys love playing with her when I need to get something done. She is such a happy little girl.
