Trip to Utah

Last Thursday, we packed up the car and headed out as soon as Rex got off work. We drove to my parents' house. The boys were pretty good in the car until the last hour. Luckily it snowed Tuesday and Wednesday and not Thursday so the roads were good and dry. We ran errands and visited with my parents on Friday. Friday night we had dinner at my parents' house with Teri, Josh, Grandma Cisney, and my aunt Carol Ann. Grandma and Carol Ann got the boys presents, a hoodie, pair of pants, gingerbread cookies, and a book.

Saturday morning, after breakfast we headed down to the Jones' house. We helped get ready for the Thanksgiving dinner. All the cousins that are down at BYU came, Grandma and Grandpa Collier, and Rex's Uncle Eric and his family, in addition to Rex's siblings and their families. It was a house full. It was fun to see everyone. Jaiden wasn't too sure about all the people (discovered later that night that he was teething, so that could have caused his crankiness). Ian loved all the people there, as that means there are more people to play with.

Saturday night we all headed up to the Conference Center to see Savior of the World. Rex's mom and sister were performing in it. A few of Rex's cousins were also in it. It was really good and spiritual, though I am not taking the boys to something that late again (whiny and tired boys make it hard to fully pay attention). The snow was bad as we drove back to the Jones'. We got back at 11 and promptly got the boys in bed (they both had fallen asleep in the car).

Sunday was church and in the evening was Hayden's court of honor. He was the only one getting his eagle that night and there were a lot of people there (having lots of cousins at BYU helps with getting a lot of people there). There was probably 20-25 people in the Eagle's Nest. Ian fell asleep part way through, I wish Jaiden had as well, but no luck on that. Jaiden did get a root beer float after the court of honor though.

Garrett opened his mission call on Saturday, with tons of people over. He is going to the Denmark Copenhagen mission. He goes to the MTC on March 2nd. He is excited. He got his call earlier in the week, but waited until we were all there on Saturday to open it.

Monday morning Rex and I went to the temple down in Provo while Rex's mom watched the boys. After picking up the boys, we went back down to Provo and visited my friend Lauren and got to see her baby. We also stopped by at Christen and Alex's place. We spent the night at my cousin Anna's house.

Tuesday morning we left. The roads were bad and there was snow in the Provo Canyon to Dushene and then the skies and roads were clear. Glad we didn't wait until any later to leave. We got snow Tuesday night and throughout the day on Wednesday.

Insurance

Today I am thankful that we have good medical insurance. Jaiden has had a cough since Monday. I went visiting teaching Tuesday night and Tilila said her baby (1 year old) had croup. She was telling us what her doctor said about croup. So that got me thinking and wondering if that was what Jaiden has. So I finally called and got him an appointment for this morning. Good news, Jaiden does not have croup, just a cough. I did get a humidifier, so we will see that helps.

Veterans

I am thankful for all those that serve in the armed forces and those that served before. Thank you! If it weren't for you we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today.

Traveling

Yesterday we went down to Grand Junction. I am grateful that the snow waited until today to come, so we didn't have to drive in the snow. I am also grateful that the boys were pretty good in the car for the three hour ride (three hours one way). We were able to go to a cool park while we were down there. It is a big sports park with a couple playgrounds. The playground that we went to was huge and Ian loved it.

Conference Ensign

I love reading the conference Ensign. I am so glad that we finally got it yesterday. It is so uplifting.

Crocheting

I'm thankful that my mom taught me how to crochet when I was younger. I love being able to make things. Today I started Jaiden's Christmas stocking. I almost forgot about making his stocking, but this will be his first Christmas. I also started learning to knit (still like crocheting better). We have a crochet/knit night (or any other project you happen to be working on) one night a month at Tilila's house, so I get to just walk over there. It is fun to work on stuff and talk to other women.

Desktop Computer

Today I am thankful we have a desktop computer, though it is old and a little slow, but it works. Our laptop died yesterday, the AC adapter and were it connects in the computer. So Rex finally connected our desktop to the internet. Since we have lived here, we have just been using the laptop mostly, except for Ian's movies that he watches here on the desktop. But now the desktop is fully functional and we still can use the internet while the laptop is down. We may go to Grand Junction to get the laptop fixed or wait a couple weeks and get it fixed when we go to Utah. We'll see. There is no Best Buy (where we have a warranty on the laptop) around here.

Today I’m thankful for the library

I’m thankful specifically for story time. They do a great job with story time here (I didn’t like it that much in Ogden, could have done it better). Ian is also learning to sit and listen and participate much better. He even got chosen to blow out the story candle (they chose a kid who was listening to blow out the candle). Jaiden even kind of listens. He crawls all over and will sit and listen for a little bit occasionally. It is nice to go and let Ian be with other kids and get to know other moms in town.

November snuck up on me, but I will post something I am thankful for everyday for the rest of the month.

Halloween, Climbing, Prayers, etc

This year Ian was a cowboy, like Woody on Toy Story. Toy Story has been one of his favorite movies this year. Jaiden was a zebra. I got the costume at a garage sale for 0.50, I couldn’t pass it up and he was a very cute zebra.

Halloween week was very busy. Thursday, for story time at the library, we went trick or treating to a few businesses downtown. At the pizza place they gave each kid a small slice of pizza. Friday night we headed over to the church for trunk or treat (it was not our ward that organized it though, there were several families from our ward there though). Saturday afternoon, while Rex was fixing the truck, I took the boys trick or treating downtown Craig to the businesses on the main street. It was very crowded and I think I was going to the wrong direction.

Jaiden has discovered (about two weeks ago now) that he can climb. Before he would just use the bottom step to hold on to to stand up. The first time he climbed, I wasn’t watching. He fell and I noticed from the corner of my eye that he fell from higher up. He cut his lip and had a fat, bruised lip for a couple days. He is getting better at not falling, I think he has realized he can’t stop in the middle and sit on the stairs. He is always on the stairs, oh joy. He has yet to try and go down, but I’m fine with that.

Ian said the cutest/funniest prayer the other night. He had he was going to help me say the prayer, which just means that he says it by himself. This was the gist of the prayer, “Heavenly Father, Jesus loves me. Everybody loves me. I will be baptized later. Daddy will put me under the water and I will come up. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.” We have talked about him being baptized somewhat and he is excited, but does understand that it will be “later.”
