Easter Ideas

So I have been thinking about what to do about Easter and how to keep it more centered on Christ and his resurrection and not just the Easter bunny. This morning I checked blogs and two of my friends posted about what they will be doing and one had several links for ideas. Thanks!

I have decorated some for Easter. I put up some pictures of Christ. Ian and I made some paper eggs and put them up. I also made a Happy Easter sign to put up in the window.

Rex's family is coming Wednesday night and staying until Friday. My parents are coming Friday and staying until Sunday. We can't wait! We will be going to an Easter egg hunt at the park on Saturday. I think we might do all the Easter bunny stuff on Saturday and focus on Christ all day Sunday.

Computer Time

So I have realized lately that I have been spending way too much time lately on the computer and letting Ian watch way too many movies throughout the day. So starting today, I am only letting myself get on the computer when both boys are asleep. And Ian only gets one movie a day (if that, I am going to try and go for maybe twice a week). Although this week may be a little easier with that as Rex's parents, two brothers, and one sister are coming and then my parents are coming. I am excited for them all to come! And it is Easter next weekend!

Evans, CO

I was just looking on a friend's blog. She has a live traffic feed on the side. It tells where someone is that is looking at the blog. It has me as being from Evans, CO. I just looked this up. Evans is about 200 miles from us and doesn't look as big. Fort Collins looks bigger and is closer. I just thought that was interesting.

2 Months

We finally got our health insurance cards yesterday. So I called and made Jaiden's two month appointment for today (he is 2 1/2 months now). He was great at the doctors until the end when he got his shots. Here are his stats:

11 lbs 5 oz, the 50th percentile

22 1/2 in, the 50th percentile.

He is bigger than Ian was at the same age.

Health Care Reform Bill

I got on facebook this morning and found out that the health care reformed bill passed. I don't know what I think about this yet. What I really want is not people's opinions, but what the bill says (summed up) and what is going to do and where funding will come from. I tried looking up the actual bill itself, but it was 2400 pages long! There is no way I have time or patience to read all that. I tried skimming through it, it was kind of difficult to understand and very long. Does anyone know where I can find an unbiased as possible summary of the bill. Thanks!

I want to decide for myself what to think about this and not have someone telling me what to think (and I will have both sides coming from my and Rex's families).

Ian is now pretty much potty trained. After he uses the bathroom, he doesn’t always put his pants back on, thus just a shirt and underwear (we have to remind him to underwear back on a lot of the time as well).

Living Room and Basement

Kristi, here are more pictures of our place, as promised. I like the shelf, it was here when we moved in, it gives us more room to decorate. I also have some pictures up on the wall now. We will put more up next month when we can buy more picture hanging strips (so we don’t have to put holes in the wall).

We bought a double stroller a few weeks ago, and this is where it gets stored (until summer, when it might be stored out on the porch).

Now our basement:

Our washer and dryer! Those stairs are kind of scary. The basement door will most defiantly stay closed when Jaiden starts moving around on his own.

We need to get rid of the mattress and boxsprings still, the previous people just left them.

Ian’s ABCs

 

Ian will randomly start singing the alphabet song, of course it is his own version, missing letters and having some letters more than once. But he does pretty well, he usually gets to z, but not when I was recording him.

Grand Junction

We went down to Grand Junction on Wednesday (about 2 1/2 hours away). The boys did pretty well in the car. We went down for an eye appointment for me, since our vision insurance does not cover any place in the two counties that we live by/in. It was a gorgeous day. We spent time at the mall. We of course had to stop at the play area for a little bit and let Ian run around. The mall was nice. They had two huge family bathrooms and two nursing rooms, with comfy chairs to sit in. We also stopped at Safeway and did our grocery shopping for the week. When we got home, I looked at our receipt and looks like Grand Junction may not have any tax on food. I have been noticing sales tax lately. Steamboat has a 1% higher tax than Craig, and there is a lower tax on food in both places than other stuff.

Yesterday was also a gorgeous day and warm (in the 50s). I took the boys down to the park for a little while in the morning. Jaiden fell asleep in the stroller on the way there and stayed asleep the whole time we were there. Ian had fun running around and playing. There was still snow on the ground, but it was manageable. Jaiden woke up on the way home. There are no sidewalks on the way to the park except right around the elementary school. There are some dirt/gravel paths, but they are very bumpy with a stroller. Ian and I also played outside around our place in the afternoon while Jaiden was taking a nap. We went around back and made it to our back porch, but it took some work. There is still a ton of snow in the back, there are places were in the snow went up to my knee. Ian was able to mostly just walk on top of the snow, but my feet kept sinking down in the snow.

Of course we woke up this morning with more snow on the ground. Spring will hopefully come and stay soon.

I'm So Ready for Spring

Our snow has been melting that past few days. Yesterday was sunny and warmish (Kristi, it still would be cold to you). We went for a walk in the morning and played outside for a bit. Jaiden didn't like having the sun in his face, he kept turning to bury his face in me. Ian of course loved picking up the rocks and stuff. After Rex got home and Jaiden was taking a nap, Ian and I walked to a park. There was still a lot of snow on the ground, but we were still able to play for a little bit on the slides and stuff.

We awoke this morning to- SNOW! It snowed during the night and is still snowing. If it continues to snow, we won't go to playgroup at the church (we have only been once, the first week we were here) :(

Yoga

So I got a yoga DVD from the library yesterday to try it out. So I decided to do it this morning. It was harder than I thought, it also didn't help that Ian woke up insanely early and did not want me to do it. I think I need to watch it again without doing it and then try it again (and hopefully Ian will still be in bed when I do it).

On another note, I've been thinking about preschool for Ian. I was thinking of starting him in one (once I find one) this coming school year. Then I realized that he would have two years of preschool before kindergarten and I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that or not. I am still doing some stuff with him at home and will hopefully do it regularly. I also thought about maybe seeing if there were some moms around here that wanted to get together a couple times a week and do some preschool stuff (we just got new neighbors and I think they have a couple young kids, I am going to try to get up courage to go meet them today). Any thoughts on preschool?

Missionaries

We had the missionaries over for dinner Wednesday night. This was the first time since we have been married. We did sign up once before, in Ogden, but they never showed up. It was fun. I had signed up a couple weeks ago and forgot. Luckily, the missionaries called Tuesday night to remind me.

I remember having the missionaries over all the time for dinner when I was growing up. My sisters and I always liked the missionaries. My sisters always gave them nicknames. I will forever remember "Junior," the biggest missionary we ever had in our ward. We would also try to steal their white books to try and figure out their first names (that was a big thing for us for some reason).

Any Potty Training Advice?

About two weeks ago, Ian started going to bed with just underwear, no diapers. The first week was great, no accidents, he slept through the night. But now he has an accident almost every night. I don't know how to help him. Anybody have any advice?
